Chardham Yatra opening 2020 

The yatra is open to the tourists for only half of the year, that is, for six months, generally from April-May to October- November. Owing to the weather conditions, the tour halts for the rest of the months. For the year 2020, the tentative schedule for the yatra might be as follows-

Yamunotri- 27 April 2020 to 28 October 2020

Gangotri- 26 April 2020 to 27 October 2020

Kedarnath- 28 April 2020 to 29 October 2020

The opening dates of the holy tour hugely rely on the date of Akshay Tritiya while the closing date depends on the auspicious occasion of Vijaya Dashmi. Both the mentioned events are of supreme importance in the Hindu culture.

The first shrine Yamunotri is named after the river Yamuna which flows in the area. The sacredness of river Ganga is well known which is why Gangotri Dham is flooded with the devotees who bath in the river while worshipping the holy mother Ganga. The third shrine, that is, Kedarnath is amongst the 12 jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva while the last destination Badrinath is a temple devoted to Lord Vishnu.
